HOW 75 HARD WILL TRANSFORM YOUR BODY + MIND
If you're feeling stuck, inconsistent, or like you're capable of more but can't seem to follow through, I challenge you to start 75 Hard.
75 Hard is a free mental toughness challenge created by Andy Frisella where, for 75 days straight, you commit to:
Two 45-minute workouts (one must be outside, no matter what the weather)
Drink a gallon of water
Follow a diet (no cheats, no alcohol)
Read 10 pages of a nonfiction book
Take a progress picture
And, if you miss any of these, you must start over on Day 1.
FIRST TIME COMPLETING LIVE HARD, A YEAR FULL OF 75 HARD CHALLENGES: 2024
Most people don’t have a discipline problem, they have a decision problem. And once you choose to make a real decision, one that leaves no room for negotiation, you start to build discipline you didn’t think you had.
And that’s what 75 Hard teaches you. If you are looking to gain more discipline, develop your mind, and change your body, 75 Hard is a tool that will change your life.
Here are four life lessons that 75 Hard will teach you:
1. Discipline Is a Skill, Not a Trait
Before 75 Hard, I used to say things like, “I’m just not a disciplined person.”, or “I’ll start again Monday.”
But 75 Hard showed me that discipline isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something you build. And you build it by doing what you said you’d do, especially when you don’t feel like it.
2. Your Standards Shift Permanently
When you do 75 Hard, your standards shift. You start to realize how much you were tolerating before, such as:
Half-effort workouts
Mindless habits
Empty distractions
Thinking you don’t have time to do what you need to do
When you raise the bar, everything around you either rises with it or gets left behind. You stop negotiating with yourself, and you learn how to raise your standard for yourself.
3. It’s Not About Fitness. It’s About Integrity.
While many people think 75 Hard is simply a weight loss challenge (yes, it does change your body), it is more about flexing your integrity muscle.
You learn how to:
Keep promises to yourself
Show up when no one’s watching
Build momentum through consistency
Create proof that you're capable of more than you believed
4. Your Environment Will Try to Pull You Back
Don’t be surprised if some people ask you why you’re doing this challenge. Every time I have done 75 Hard, I get comments from almost everyone (including an old trainer) that 75 Hard isn’t sustainable or good for the body.
The reality is that people will start to get uncomfortable when you begin leveling up. Your decisions to eat differently, choose discipline, or skipping happy hour might make others feel insecure, but growth requires friction and doing something like 75 Hard forces you to decide: Do I want comfort, or do I want change?
75 Hard isn’t easy, but that’s the point. Most people won’t finish it and most people won’t even start.
So, if you want to be the exception and are ready to start, here are some tools that helped me:
Download the 75 Hard App: The best $5 you’ll spend in this program - it helps you keep on track with ensuring everything gets completed each day.
Listen to the “Real AF” Podcast Episode on 75 Hard: This podcast episode will not only hype you up, but will also explain how you can make the most of each day on 75 Hard.
Come Up With a Plan: Coming up with a plan will be your greatest tool. Come up with a plan for your food, your exercise, and your reading, and you’ll be so much better prepared to crush each day.
Find an Accountability Partner: Not required, but it can help you push through tough days!
Use the #75Hard Hashtag: Looking at other people’s progress will give you even more motivation to keep going.
75 Hard isn’t about proving anything to anyone else, it’s about proving something to yourself. If you want to:
Build confidence
Create discipline
Shift your self-image
Finally follow through on your goals.
Try 75 Hard, even once. You’ll end it a stronger, more disciplined, better version of you.
