WHAT I LEARNED FROM LOSING OVER 70 POUNDS
Deciding to get my health under control and dropping over 70 pounds wasn’t just a physical transformation, it reshaped every part of my life.
From mindset to habits to identity, the process changed how I saw myself and how I showed up in every area. And the truth is, these lessons will bless you, no matter what part of your journey you’re on.
FIRST STARTING - 2021
GOAL WEIGHT MET AFTER YEARS OF TRYING + FAILING - 2025
Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. The Discontentment You Feel Is a Signal
The part of you that feels restless and wants more is the part of you that knows you were created for something greater. You have to choose to do what most people won’t do today, so you can experience what most people won’t get to tomorrow.
2. The Right People Will Call You Higher
On January 2nd, 2021, my dad took me on a long drive and told me I needed to change some things in my life. Not out of judgment, but out of belief. He saw something in me I hadn’t seen in myself. That conversation was a turning point and reminded me that sometimes all it takes is one person who believes in you to change everything.
Surround yourself with people who see the best in you and aren’t afraid to call it out.
3. Self-Investment Leads to Overflow
When you start taking care of your physical and mental health, it naturally spills into every other part of your life.
Your finances.
Your business.
Your relationships.
Your future.
Growth in one area creates hunger in others. That’s how momentum starts.
4. Growth Is Lonely, But It’s Worth It
Changing your life means making decisions that most people won’t understand.
You’ll feel lonely at times, you’ll outgrow old habits, and you’ll outgrow old conversations. But that space in between is necessary if you’re becoming someone new and someone you barely recognize.
5. Discipline Is a Muscle
You already have discipline inside of you, even if you haven’t discovered it yet.
Like a muscle, the more you train it, the stronger it gets. The more you choose discipline in small moments, your food choices, your workouts, your sleep, the more you build the kind of strength that lasts.
6. You Have to Act Like the Future You Now
Becoming someone different starts before you see the change. You have to act like the person you want to become long before the mirror reflects it. And when you do, fruit follows. Other people begin to notice, doors begin to open, and the world responds to the new person you decide to step into.
7. You’ll Never Truly “Arrive”
Once you start changing, you realize you’re just getting started.
Every goal met reveals a new one. Every milestone achieved opens your eyes to how much more is possible. There’s always more growth, purpose, and vision. You will never “arrive”, you’ll just keep growing.
If you’re on a journey, whether health-related or otherwise, I hope this reminds you: You’re not behind, you’re just getting started. You just have to make the decision to start and keep going.
