BECOMING THE EXCEPTION
We are constantly faced with choices, and most of them don’t require talent, strategy, or luck. They just require a decision to be the exception.
Most people won’t follow through, won’t change their habits, won’t show up on the hard days, and won’t do what they know they need to do to get what they say they want. I know all of this because I’ve been that person more times than I can count.
Being different requires being an exception to everyone else - it means doing what is necessary versus what is easy.
Being the exception means looking at what most people do and deciding to do the opposite.
You can be the one who keeps their word and does what they say they will do. The one who keeps showing up even when the motivation is gone. The one who makes a decision and commitment and sticks to it when everyone is doing the same ole, same ole. Being the exception isn’t about being perfect, it’s about making the choice over and over again to lead yourself when everything in you wants to revert back to the old you.
Most people will wish for a better life instead of making active choices and decisions to get there, and I don’t know about you, but I want to be different. When I try and fail, I want to know that I can get up and try again when most people would decide to give up.
You can be the exception in the room - you can build a life that matches what you see for yourself instead of your current circumstances. You are becoming someone different, even if no one else sees it yet.
So the next time you wonder if it’s worth it, remind yourself: You weren’t made to be like everyone else, you were made to be the exception.
