THE HIDDEN ADVANTAGE OF SETBACKS + REJECTION
How often do you think that not everything that goes “wrong” in your life is actually wrong?
Sometimes, the most significant breakthroughs begin with a closed door, something being taken away, or something that didn’t go how you hoped.
Every blessing is on the other side of a setback, an elimination, or a rejection.
While any of these could be viewed as a failure (and they often are), they can also be viewed differently with a simple reframe: This setback, elimination, or rejection could actually give me the clarity, direction, and growth I needed.
If you’re navigating a season that feels like a step backward, here’s the truth:
Setbacks, eliminations, and rejections can all work for you if you let them.
1. Setbacks Build Inner Strength
While a setback can seem like it’s slowing you down, it is often the time when you build the most resilience, patience, and maturity needed in your next season.
In any setback, analyze what got you to this point and how you can do it differently next time. While not everything is in our control, we can control how we decide to act and think moving forward.
2. Eliminations Make Room for More
Things, or people, being taken or leaving your life feels like a painful loss. And as humans, loss is one of the most painful feelings we can experience.
However, when something is eliminated from your life, whether it was your it was your choosing or not, it leaves space for more to come in.
It is natural and normal to keep things in your life that aren’t serving you because of the pain from that thing not being in your life. But sometimes, the blockage that thing or person brings to your life is actually bringing more pain and is hindering you from your purpose.
Whenever something is eliminated from my life, I have to ask myself, “Was it ever even mine to begin with?”
The idea that you can never lose anything or stop anything from coming into your life that is truly meant to be yours brings me so much peace.
3. Rejection Points You Toward the Right Thing
“Rejection is redirection.”
A quote you’ve likely heard dozens of times but one that still rings true. What you thought you needed may not have been the thing that would serve you best. A "no" might be protecting you or preparing you for something you never even knew was possible or existed.
Rejection is short-term pains for long-term gains.
The next time you experience a setback, elimination, or rejection, think of it as life giving you another audition to prove if you have what it takes to live a great life.
Every great person in the history books overcame these things day in and day out.
And frankly, if you experience any setback, rejection, or elimination, it means you’re doing life right. You’re putting yourself out there, you’re taking chances, and you’re trying things that you aren’t sure will work.
And that is where the growth happens.
