HOW TO MAKE A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE

If you’re craving change but don’t know where to start, this is for you.

Change can feel uncomfortable, especially when it’s out of your control. For many, it feels unpredictable, overwhelming, and uncertain. And if that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

But the most powerful kind of change is the kind you proactively choose. The kind that happens when you decide to take ownership of your life and start moving in the direction of the person you know you’re meant to be.

When you really pause and reflect, or even talk to others, you’ll find this truth: most people want more: More peace, more discipline, more freedom. The desire is there,  but the action often isn’t.

Your job is to be the exception.

To be the one who says, “I want to change,” and actually follows through.

So, whether you're ready to shift your health, your finances, your relationships, or how you feel day-to-day, here are three tools to help you make real, lasting change.

1. Figure Out What You Want

This is the first step, and it’s the most overlooked.

What do you want your life to include or look like?

Be honest and be willing to admit that the life you desire might look nothing like the one you’re currently living. Clarity is your biggest tool in Step 1, and if you’re unclear, you will either stay stuck or give up too soon.

2. Make a Real Decision + Do What It Takes to Get There (Keep or Cut)

Once you know what you want, make a real decision. A real decision is not going back and forth on whether you’re going to take the action or not; it’s deciding that no matter what, you will take the steps and do whatever it takes to get what you want.

Wanting change is one thing, but becoming the person who is making active decisions to change is another. You have to choose to no longer be the person who says they want something and doesn’t do anything about it. You see that trait in other people, so start to look at that trait in yourself.

Looking at every area of your life and asking yourself if it supports the life you want or slows it down will help you figure out what needs to be kept or cut.

Keep or cut decisions may look like:

  • Cutting certain foods or substances, like alcohol

  • Replacing late nights out with early mornings

  • Cutting habits that keep you comfortable and stagnant

  • Limiting time with certain people so that you can meet others who challenge you

Keep or cut baby - it won’t be easy, but it will pay off in dividends.

3. Be Patient With Yourself

Change takes time.

You’re not going to wake up tomorrow as a brand-new person, but you are going to wake up one day and realize you think differently, you respond differently, you believe in yourself a little more than you used to.

Give yourself grace and celebrate small wins. We can’t all be perfect, and when you slip up, take the learning lesson and move forward. As many people say, “Progress over perfection.”

4. Keep Setting Big Goals That Push You Forward

Once you start to see changes happening, the goal is to always keep that cycle going. You build the momentum, now keep riding on all of the hard work you’ve put in to push yourself forward.

When you’re getting a little closer to that accomplishment you’ve always wanted for yourself, set another milestone that will keep you moving. Big goals create motion, create momentum, and stretch your identity.

Set goals that challenge you to keep evolving mentally, spiritually, financially, and physically. Goals that require new habits, new thinking, and new levels of discipline.

5. Build an Environment That Matches Your Vision

Growth is easier when your environment supports it.

You can want to change all day long, but if your environment is full of things pulling you backwards, it’s going to feel impossible to move forward. Get to know yourself enough to know what triggers you or tempts you.

I personally know now not to go to certain places or parties when I haven’t eaten because I know I will eat a bunch of food that I know I am not supposed to eat. I also know now not to put myself in certain situations where I will be

Surround yourself with:

  • People who speak life into your vision

  • Books, podcasts, and content that stretch you

  • Habits that anchor you

  • Physical spaces that remind you who you’re becoming

Changing your life won’t happen overnight. But it will happen when you decide to take full ownership of your future.

So start today:

  • Get clear.

  • Cut what no longer fits

  • Keep showing up

  • Be patient.

  • Keep setting big milestones for yourself

And refuse to settle for anything less than the life you were created for - your next chapter starts when you do!
