FIGHTING FOR YOUR MIND
There has been a theme I’ve been going back on this entire year that I want to share with you this morning:
The importance of fighting for your mind and fighting for your joy.
Fighting for our minds is a constant battle and an ongoing practice, as what flows out of our lives first starts in our minds.
I have gone through seasons of my life where I felt as though certain hardships caused me to lose my essence or the “best” of my personality. I decided I had to actively choose to fight for my thoughts, my joy, and who I was created to be, despite outside circumstances. The same may go for you for certain things you’ve been through.
Working towards big goals, big aspirations, and a big life comes with more opportunities that shine a light on what is happening on the inside. I always know how I respond to a situation is a reflection of how disciplined I have been in training my mind. Getting good at anything takes reps, which is why getting your mind on lockdown is an everyday necessity. When the battles come, you will either be ready or unprepared.
Here are things you can do everyday to train your mind:
Pray
Listen to a podcast and reading a chapter of a non-fiction book everyday - yes, everyday
I personally keep notes on my phone and read over everytime I need a reminder. I also make certain phrases my phone background to be a constant reminder of what I need in a certain season.
Protect all your inputs - what is watched, listened to, and spoken
Be consistent with a workout routine
Limiting time with certain people
Read future “I am…” statements every morning or every night
“I am a multimillionaire.” “I am a best-selling author.” “I am friends with XYZ.”
The more we level up, the more important it is to be the one guarding our thoughts and our joy - let’s do it together.
