THE DISGUISE OF PROGRESS
How often do you think of all your previous setbacks as actually being progress to getting you closer to where you want to be?
Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts is one of the best songs of all time (if you disagree, I feel bad for your music taste). And if you listen to the lyrics, you will find that it talks about this very subject.
There is a broken road that every person on this planet goes through that, if you don’t give up, leads you to your progress or what you really desired all along. Oftentimes you don’t realize that the setbacks were actually the things that needed to happen to get you there.
I have discovered that almost every time I’ve had a win, big or small, it was disguised firstly as elimination, rejection, or mistakes. Here’s how:
Elimination - because cutting out what needs to be cut out, no matter how painful, will get you further in the end.
Rejection - because each ‘no’ gets you one step closer to your ‘yes’.
Mistakes - because every lesson learned and applied from a fault will be used to further your story and to help others.
Moving states. Ended relationships. Getting no’s on things I’ve wanted so badly to get yes’ on. And much, much more. All of these disguises were necessary in order to propel me forward to where I am now and where I’m headed.
Be encouraged that if you’re currently in a season of setbacks, it is a disguise as progress. And, everytime you need a reminder, re-read this RE/SET and listen to Bless The Broken Road. :)
