EXPOSING VULNERABILITY

Everything worth doing will make you vulnerable.

The definition of vulnerability is, “…exposing yourself to physical or emotional harm, damage, or attack.”

When you have something you want to obtain or accomplish, you are making yourself vulnerable. You are walking up to the line, with your arms open, willingly putting yourself in a position to be hurt, to be embarrassed, for your heart to feel discouraged.

Yet, success in any area doesn’t come without this form of self-sacrifice.

Whether you’re working or praying for the success of a business venture, a relationship, a deal to go through, you have to wake up and decide everyday that your vulnerability, no matter how tough or painful, will be worth it in the end.

Growth and success, whatever that looks like to you, will come from moving forward despite the lost trust from past experiences, despite the fear of failure, despite the unknowing feeling of what may happen tomorrow.

Everything worth doing will require a piece of your heart. It will require courage and will expose the parts of you that you’d rather keep protected. But that’s the trust cost of pushing past barriers.

To move forward, you have to open yourself up. Because with vulnerability also comes new opportunities, new confidence, and new proof that you’re doing what it takes to get what you want.

The most meaningful decisions in life will always ask for more of you.

I don’t know about you, but I’m committed to continually making myself more vulnerable, knees shaking and fear in the back of my mind. Because the risk is real, but so is the reward.
